Ruby Roots Farm started small — five acres, a lot of ideas, and a determination to build something that could grow.
What began with rhubarb has gradually grown into something much bigger. Today, Ruby Roots is a working Nova Scotia farm producing rhubarb, small-batch farm products, handmade farmhouse gifts and the Rusty & Ruby children’s book series.
Around here, things aren't particularly polished. There are horses and goats, chickens underfoot, dogs supervising jobs they weren't hired for, old equipment being brought back to life, and usually another project waiting around the corner.
And that's really where Ruby Roots comes from.
Our products and stories are inspired by the farm itself — what we grow, what we make, the animals that live here and the everyday adventures that happen when you're trying to build a farm from the ground up.
And Ruby Roots is still growing.
What started on five acres is becoming something much bigger. There are new plans taking shape, more things we want to grow, more things we want to create, and — because apparently we don't know when to stop — a few fairly ambitious ideas in the works.
We're not quite ready to tell you everything yet.
But this little farm is just getting started.
